Aniseed Myrtle 20g

Aniseed Myrtle is a rare native bushfood that imparts an aniseed flavour reminiscent of liquorice in cooking, baking, and desserts. It is thought that First Nations People historically used Aniseed Myrtle as a traditional tonic with vitalizing effects.
The natural essential oil found within the leaf is what gives the sweet flavour.  When cooking with Aniseed Myrtle, it is recommended that you use it in the last 10 minutes to avoid burning off the essential oil.

How do I use it?
So many ways! Try flavouring a curry with it, use in icecream or sorbet, flavour a tea or easily use to spice up a mulled wine.

What does it taste like?
Liquorice and aniseed.

How much should I use?

For flavouring when cooking, 1 teaspoon should be enough. If using in preserves, or syrup, adjust to 1/2 teaspoon per jar or bottle.
