who are we?
Hey, my name is Jen and I’m an Aussie expat living out woop woop in West Flanders, Belgium, with my 2 boys, Casper & Quinten.
Raising kids on the other side of the planet has presented itself with it’s own unique challenges, one of which was a desire to bring them up on some of my favourite foods. After years of going to extraordinary lengths to keep our pantry stocked with our beloved Vegemite, I thought that there just has to be a better way. The idea of Aussie Foods was born.
But I have no plans to maintain the status quo. We’re constantly working towards improving our supply of stock and expanding on our range.
Whilst I realise I can’t cure homesickness, I do hope to put a smile on an expat’s face with a little treat from home. I am really very passionate about the Aussie expat community in Europe, that’s why we’ve also got a page dedicated to other Aussies in business in Europe. What is going on?
Hi guys,
So, you’re probably wondering what the hell is going on? No new stock, and almost everything has now passed it’s best before date?!? This can’t be serious…
Sadly I have a whole container load of new stock sitting at the wharf, where it has been for more than 6 weeks now. Long story short, due to customs formalities more than half of it will be destroyed and I am no longer able to import a whole heap of the products that I have been importing in the past.
The events that have unfolded over the past 6 weeks have signed Aussie Foods’ death warrant. I am devestated.
I’m still attempting to salvage the remaining products to try minimise my losses somewhat.
And then I start the painful process of winding up the shop. Certainly not a scenario that I ever entertained in the past, no matter how tough things got. But unfortunately I’m up against far larger, more powerful entities than me and it’s I fight I cannot win.
What can you do to help? The quicker I can get rid of the remaining stock the better. I would be very appreciative if you would take as much of it off my hands as you can.
